Blog 6-Berea Details
While many people are familiar with Cleveland Browns Stadium (formerly First Energy Stadium) as a place of operations for the Browns, some people do not know about the CrossCountry Mortgage Campus in Berea. About a week into my internship, I got to go the Berea campus for the first time. This was a quick trip to the storage room as discussed in a different post. Throughout the course of the internship, I have made trips to Berea, as well doing some work there. I was given a tour of the facility during my second time at the facility. During the tour, I got to see the mail room, where all the shipping and mail is taken care of. This was interesting, and I realized that the browns ship more items than I originally thought. I also got to see the security room. Since this facility is filled with high profile people including ownership, players, coaches, and executives, there are many security features that the public may not know about. There are dozens of cameras throughout the building, as well as outside. Each door in the building can only be opened by face scans that are uploaded to a database. On top of this, certain doors within the building can only be opened by certain people who have clearance. This allows the safety of everyone in the building. A major part of this facility is used for player training. The facility includes a large weight room, many practice fields (indoor and outdoor), an indoor pool, and many recovery equipment. A part of the recovery area that caught my eye was the cryotherapy room. There is an equipment/laundry room, barbershop for players and staff, extensive cafeteria, and more. There are also many offices, but I was unable to see this because the building is under construction. These offices are where I would have worked instead of the stadium if there was no construction. Finally, across the street from the facility is the storage warehouse. This is where I spent a lot of my time when at the Berea campus. This warehouse has many parts including a section for training camp events, a section for youth football/community relations, a section for merchandise, and more that I could not see because it was locked. I spent many hours in this storage room helping out the community relations department move items around, look for different things, and organizing various things. I also helped load and unload the Browns van every time there was an event at a different place other than Berea. Overall, it was cool to see this facility, and its inner workings. It was also cool to do some work there. In the next post, I will discuss the major event I did at Berea.
Interesting behind the scenes look at the training facility. Coll that you got to go there.
